Parenting Hell Goes Visual: Hit Podcast Launches Video Episodes on Spotify
Table of Contents
A new era begins for the popular podcast Parenting Hell as Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe debut full video episodes exclusively on Spotify.
The move represents a significant evolution for the UK-based comedy podcast, which has cultivated a dedicated following since its launch in 2020. Parenting Hell distinguishes itself through its candid and relatable exploration of the challenges and absurdities of modern family life, offering listeners an unfiltered perspective on the realities of raising children alongside professional commitments.
From Audio Success to Visual Expansion
The podcast’s success extends beyond the audio realm. The duo’s accompanying book reached the Number one spot on the Sunday Times bestsellers list, and their live show has consistently sold out arenas throughout the United Kingdom. This expansion into video format aims to deepen the connection between the comedians and their audience, offering a visual dimension to the humor that previously existed solely through conversation.
“I am delighted people can now see what a mess we are and not just hear it. Plus, now my sofa is a tax deductible, what a life!” quipped one of the podcast’s hosts.
Spotify Invests in Video Podcasting Growth
According to a statement from Spotify, the addition of video content for Parenting Hell reflects a broader trend within the podcasting industry. The platform reports a nearly 150% increase in video podcast consumption hours last year, alongside a more than 60% rise in the number of UK listeners engaging with video podcasts.
“We’re thrilled to see Parenting Hell evolve as it returns this January with full video episodes for the very first time,” said a Spotify podcast partner manager. “Ever since it launched, the show has connected with listeners in ways that not many podcasts can. With Parenting Hell now bringing video episodes to Spotify, fans will be more immersed in the worlds of Rob and Josh.”
What to Expect from the New Format
The first-ever video episode, released on Tuesday, January 6, features a typical Parenting Hell discussion centered around anecdotes and confessions from the recent Christmas holidays. Later this week, on Friday, the podcast will release its inaugural visualised guest episode, featuring an appearance by British boxing legend Prince Naseem Hamed.
Parenting Hell will continue its regular release schedule, with new episodes – available in both video and audio formats – dropping every Tuesday and Friday on Spotify. For listeners who prefer the traditional audio experience, the podcast will remain accessible on all major podcast platforms.
