Even the family members said that the movie was terribly boring and that movie also broke – Vijay Sethupathi

Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi says that he is against the way of evaluating films on the basis of collections. He said that good films do not necessarily succeed in theaters and some films are taken by the audience years after their release.

He commented that my family didn’t like a film I acted in when they first saw it, but today a lot of people are commenting on that film on YouTube and that’s why you can’t judge the film by its collection.

Vijay Sethupathi said that fans should stop arguing about the collection among themselves. He was speaking at the Education Conclave organized by Indian Express.

“When I was in school, if a film was successful, posters would be posted saying it was a hit, a super hit, a mega hit. It was only after 2000 that films were measured on the basis of collections. They started saying that a movie has collected so much rupees and because of that the movie has become a hit.

Cinema represents our life. The film shows the way of life of the people who lived once, the problems they faced, their politics, the role of men and women in the society.

Chumma is not telling the story. I don’t think such a creation should be measured by money. It’s even worse when fans cause trouble for it.

Orange Mittai was the film I produced and acted in. At the time of its release, even my family members said that the film was terribly boring. The film flopped at the theatres.

Now after many years after uploading it on YouTube channel, many people are praising the movie and commenting on it. This is what is happening,’ said Vijay.
