Kochi: A Malayalee medical student who returned home said that the information provided by her classmates in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, is not comforting at all. Malavika Sunil, a third year medical student from Kiev and a native of Kochi Kathrikadavu shared her concern. Malavika returned home via Sharjah on Friday.

Malavika said her classmates who had booked tickets to come home this week were all worried as all the airports were closed. Many people did not come last week because the ticket price was too high.

The panic started when the notice came this morning to pack the goods. The University, agents and the embassy provide the necessary instructions. Malavika said students living in other places have also been directed to reach the college hostel.

Kripa, another Malayalee student from Thiruvananthapuram, said that many Malayalee students who were friends were trapped in Ukraine. There is a shortage of food in the shops. Many students, who had earlier been able to reach home, were stranded due to high air ticket prices. “Everyone wants to go back and make an urgent effort,” he said.
