Report that the salary limit for obtaining a visitor visa may be increased
Kuwait City: The salary limit for issuing family and tourist visitor visas to expatriates in Kuwait may be raised, according to a report. One such report was published by the Al Qabas daily. Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry has issued a notice suspending the issuance of family and tourist visitor visas in Kuwait.

According to the report, the minimum wage for expatriates who want to bring their spouses to Kuwait will be raised to 300 dinars and the minimum wage for bringing their parents to Kuwait will be increased to 600 dinars. Currently, the minimum wage is 250 dinars to bring a wife or husband and 500 dinars to bring parents.

The issuance of visitor visas was suspended as part of further restrictions on the expansion of Kovid. At present, visas for bringing a wife or husband are issued only with the special permission of the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs. This was also only for those earning above 500 dinars. But this too has been put on hold since last day.

The move comes ahead of a new system for issuing visitor visas. Family and visitor visas will not be issued until further notice, but local media reports suggest that the new system will take effect next week. Officials said the current ban on issuing visitor visas came into effect on Monday.
