Facilitating MSMEs to sell products through e-commerce in Tamil Nadu: A National Seminar on Export Opportunities

Chennai: MSME Department Secretary Archana Patnaik said that 4,360 small, micro and medium enterprises in Tamil Nadu have been facilitated to sell their products through e-commerce through Tamil Nadu government’s ‘Fame TN’ company.

The Central Government’s MSME Development Coordination Office in Chennai, in collaboration with the Office of the Director General of Foreign Trade, organized a one-day national seminar yesterday in Chennai on how small, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can export through e-commerce companies such as Amazon and Flipkart.

Archana Patnaik, MSME Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu participated as a special guest and said: Today, small, micro and medium enterprises are facing various challenges to carry out their business. In particular, e-commerce is experiencing tremendous growth. E-commerce brings products directly to people’s homes internationally.

In recent times, exports through e-commerce have grown significantly. India’s e-commerce exports are expected to grow to $99 billion this year. India’s electronic commerce accounts for 1.29 percent of the international market. China’s trade is 53.64 percent.

There are many market opportunities for e-commerce in domestic and foreign markets. Platforms like ONTC help with this.

Tamil Nadu Government’s ‘Fame DN’ has so far facilitated 4,360 small, micro and medium enterprises in Tamil Nadu to sell their products through Flipkart. Through this, goods worth Rs.11.5 crore have been sold. Archana Patnaik said this.

Rajalashmi Devaraj, Regional Additional Director, Office of the Director General of Foreign Trade, speaking at Bailang, said, “There are many opportunities to export through e-commerce. In particular, we should export products suitable for festive seasons and seasons including Diwali and Christmas. Likewise, the exported products should not only be of good quality but should also be packaged in the best possible way. By 2030, a target has been set to export one trillion dollars through e-commerce,” he said.

MSME Development Coordination Office Associate Director Suresh Babuji, Assistant Director CP Reddy and others participated in this workshop.
