“The entire political arc of the country should have Martin Redrado; he crosses the crack ”, he postulated Facundo Manes in front of 200 people at the presentation of Argentina first, the book with which the renowned economist opened this Saturday the dissertations between intellectuals and politicians at the Book Fair.
The neurologist praised the author in a dialogue that culminated in a hug and that emphasized terms such as “consensus”, “planning”, “stability”, “innovation”, “integral development” and “future”. Regarding Redrado and his proposal, the radical deputy continued: “It is one of the best books I have read for the country. Any president should read it. There are not many people with such a strategy. Martin is a reserve for Argentina,” he said.
Without hesitation and grateful for the reception of the public, among which figures such as doctors Carlos Javier Regazzoni and Leonardo Tondo were found, the economist accurately and clearly spelled out the main objectives of his program to reduce inflation and put Argentina on the path of social and economic development.
Argentina First suggests how to move forward in the post-pandemic with a precise diagnosis and ideas, in order to avoid recurring crises. Through several chapters, the book deals with the challenge of “stabilizing”, the requirements to grow, how to invest in knowledge and innovate, “the export and tax revolution” and labor challenges. In the end, Redrado warns: the goal is to move “from illusion to execution.”
Before signing copies at the Pengüin Random House stand, the publishing house, the author presented a diagnosis of the country’s situation in the Cortázar room. “The problems have worsened since 2020 – the year the book was written – and until we have a comprehensive program to develop and attack the main salary problem behind the increase in prices, which has intensified in recent quarters, there will be no way forward. ”, he sentenced.
In response to what he describes as “the unbearable habit of Argentine governments to improvise and to think more of shortcuts than real solutions”, Redrado pointed out the need for a roadmap that guarantees stability. “If we could put together the creativity, the natural resources that we have and the planning, it could be the way. Stability means: everyone playing on the same field, giving predictability to the economic sector and not staying on the short side, ”he specified metaphorically.
And he added: “A playing field must be marked out, putting Argentina on a wide path with inclusive development. If everyone is not included, the plan is doomed to failure. It is necessary to invest in knowledge and innovate, in science and technology, generate value and knowledge products, promote upward social mobility, generate more programmers and invest in health, training programs and social spending”, he mentioned.
“Why do we need 22 ministries?” the economist wondered aloud, thus inviting reflection on the need to implement changes within the current model.
