The African Development Fund has granted the Government a loan in the amount of around 23 billion 38 million 491 thousand CFA Francs to support the strengthening of the resilience of grassroots communities in the Koulikoro region and the Yanfolila circle. This follows an agreement between the Government and the African Fund.
It was on the basis of a report by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdoulaye DIOP that the Council of Ministers adopted draft texts relating to the ratification of a loan agreement signed in Bamako between the Government and the African Development Fund Development, since January 27, relating to the Support Project for Strengthening the Resilience of Grassroots Communities.
Through this agreement, confirms the Council of Ministers, the African Development Fund grants the Government of the Republic of Mali a loan in the amount of 26 million 750 thousand Units of Account, or approximately 23 billion 38 million 491 thousand CFA Francs.
In addition, the press release from the Council of Ministers specifies that this financing from the African Fund aims to contribute to strengthening the resilience of populations by improving the employability of young people and women in climate-resilient agricultural value chains and low-carbon in the Koulikoro Region and the Cercle of Yanfolila.
Also, the document of the Council of Ministers argues that the implementation of the Project will reduce the vulnerability of populations to possible climate shocks and increase their response capacity through the construction of infrastructure and facilities that are resilient to climate change.
