Tragedy Strikes as Three Women Killed and Three Injured in South Los Angeles Crash
SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Three women lost their lives and three others were rushed to the hospital after a horrifying collision at an intersection in South Angeles. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident occurred at the junction of Vermont Avenue and Century Boulevard just before 5:30 a.m.
The victims have been identified as 27-year-old Kimberly Izquierdo, 23-year-old Veronica Amezola, and 23-year-old Juvelyn Arroya. Unfortunately, all three women were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Emergency services quickly transported the injured survivors to a nearby medical center, with two of them listed in critical condition. The current condition of the third patient remains unknown.
Authorities from the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that the tragic crash happened when a single driver operating a white Mercedes-Benz recklessly ran a red light at a high speed. The vehicle subsequently collided with a Honda, which had a driver and four passengers inside.
During the impact, one individual was forcefully ejected from the Honda, as confirmed by the LAPD. Regrettably, the three deceased female victims were occupants of this car.
Eyewitness Victor Gonzalez, who narrowly escaped the crash, described the horrific scene. “It almost hit me too,” he said. “I starting shaking them, I started talking to them, waking them up, they weren’t responding. They weren’t breathing. It’s crazy.”
Authorities also mentioned that one of the two vehicles involved was an Uber rideshare vehicle. However, it remains unclear which one was affiliated with the popular transportation service.
As the investigation continues, the LAPD urges anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and assist in their efforts to establish a clear picture of what occurred.
