Cinema in the world of fine arts is at the level of rock art, that is, at the very “beginning of the beginnings,” film director Karen Shakhnazarov said in an interview with kp.ru.
“You will be surprised, but I do not consider cinema an art, although I have been working in it all my life,” the director said. He added that, as with Vinci paintings, it will be possible to understand what art really is.
According to cinematographercinema, as an art that appeared a little over a hundred years ago, is now in its infancy.
“Probably, in a thousand years, cinema will reach the level of high art,” the director said.
Shakhnazarov added that he had no plans to make a film about the special operation in Ukraine. The director noted that he had already created a film to which he said everything about modern events – “White Tiger”.
