Police this evening (Tuesday) arrested four residents of Lod, on suspicion of assaulting police officers during enforcement for firing fireworks during the siren of Memorial Day in the city.
Lod police officers and Border Police fighters, who according to police this evening carried out increased and targeted enforcement against perpetrators of crime in the city, emphasizing weapons offenses for the safety of area residents, noticed fireworks fired from one of the complexes at a disgraceful timing – during Memorial Day siren.
Troops entered the compound from which the fireworks were fired to carry out enforcement, as part of which they encountered violent resistance from local residents, including assaulting police officers.
As stated, the police arrested 4 local residents on suspicion of assaulting police officers, along with seizing the remains of pyrotechnic measures, and in accordance with the needs of the investigation, will examine bringing them to court tomorrow, requesting an extension of their detention.
“This is a focused and determined activity that is part of the offensive strategy that the Central District conducts against perpetrators of crime until the full severity of the law is met with them, in order to maintain public peace and security,” the police said.
