The first Circle K store in Luxembourg has already opened in Belval, three months after the Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc/Circle K group acquired part of TotalEnergies’ activities in the country.

Since this Thursday, and after a few days of renovation, the service station has looked different. At the moment, there are no changes to the pump, as the filling station continues to be “TotalEnergies Belval”, as Virgule explains.

This is expected to last at least another five years, within the scope of the agreement between the energy supplier and Circle K, as had already been announced by the Canadian group.

“The stores and car washes will be rebranded and adapted to Circle K concepts over the next few years, but the fuel stations will be branded and supplied by TotalEnergies. [também] over the next five years,” he explained in a statement released in January this year.

According to Paperjam, the Belval service station has a restaurant area and a coffee area – previously under the Bonjour brand – and is the first of two pilot stores that are part of the group’s expansion in the Grand Duchy after the Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc/Circle K’s acquisition of certain TotalEnergies retail assets in the country. “This acquisition includes a controlling interest of 60% in the entities in Luxembourg”, as confirmed by the group in the same statement.

The next TotalEnergies service station to also become a Circle K, following the Belval model, is Wasserbillig-Nord, which should happen within a few weeks.

More than 40 service stations will be changed

According to the statement published by the Canadian group earlier this year, the retail assets acquired in Luxembourg cover 44 service stations.

“We have a proud history as members of the TotalEnergies family and remain committed to our customers in Luxembourg with the same people, places and constantly evolving products and services. This move represents a great opportunity to grow and develop our offering to our clients together with Circle K’s global and European organization,” said Frank Reuter, vice-president in Luxembourg at Circle K, in January this year.

Under this brand, several lines of its own products will gradually be presented in the spaces that will be under its responsibility.
