First Indian with coronavirus, infected with “yellow mold”, dies

In India, a patient died, who, in addition to coronavirus, was diagnosed with three fungal diseases at once – “black”, “yellow” and “white” mold, the PTI agency reports, citing doctors. It was the first case of yellow mold infection in the country, and a second one is already known to have become infected in the same hospital.

The deceased was 59 years old. Previously it was believed that only reptiles can get sick with yellow mold.

It is emphasized that the man died from toxin poisoning. “Yellow mold” fungus, in addition to “white” and “black”, was found in him during an endoscopy on May 24, “said Dr. Chiyagi. Also, the fungus was found in a resident of Muradnagar, now he is taking antifungal drugs.

Earlier, India’s Minister of Chemical Industry and Fertilizer Production DV Sadananda Govda said that 11,717 cases of mucormycosis (“black mold”) were recorded in the country. Experts emphasize that mucoromycosis has been recorded in patients who have been treated with steroids for a long time.
