Due to the failure to send the documents, the Biarritz club loses (temporarily) three positions in the rankings.
Biarritz Olympique have been sanctioned with a five-point withdrawal from the Pro D2 rankings by the French Rugby Disciplinary Council due to “failure to communicate to the control commissions» of requested documents, the LNR announced Monday.
«This sanction is, in particular, a consequence of the delay and failure to communicate to the Control Commission of the Supervisory Authority the information and documents requested from the sports club», specified the National Rugby League in a press release.
The club considers itself to be in compliance with the rules
This sanction also leads to the revocation of the suspended sentence (10,000 euro fine) issued by the French Rugby Disciplinary Council against Olympic Biarritz last June.
The Basque club announced on Monday that it will appeal against this decision, an appeal which is not suspensive, specifies the LNR. The BO, which occupied 4th place in the Pro D2, therefore drops, at least temporarily, to 7th place with 35 points instead of 40.
«This decision with serious consequences is all the more incomprehensible given that the club provided the commission with the numerous requested documents within the required timeframe. The BOPB believes it has taken the necessary steps to meet regulatory requirements.», claimed the BOPB in a press release. “The club would like to underline that it has undertaken significant efforts to ensure sound and sustainable financial management.», added Olympique Biarritz.
