Director Isabelle Garneau has been instrumental in adapting the stage characters for television. “Place them more in the concrete, in the real one,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of capturing the actresses’ natural dynamic – “the giggles, the fact that they complement each other because they have been working together for a long time.” Garneau described “floods” as fundamentally a story about friendship, noting that while it’s “very funny, there are more felt moments… and of course there is wine!” She added that she appreciates the chance to showcase “two women who are not afraid to say things, who are not smooth, who are imperfect in the right direction.”
The project was acquired by Just for Laughs, with CEO Sylvain Parent-Bédard expressing his enthusiasm. “I really liked ‘The Big Floods’ and I worked with Ève, who had played different roles in our productions,” he stated. “When I analyzed this project, I said Wow! I wanted to take this project and bring it to the capital.” The series will be primarily filmed in the Quebec region, with some scenes set in Montreal, intentionally showcasing Limoilou rather than the more commonly depicted Mont-Royal.
