In the wake of the food poisoning outbreak in Kottayam, three hotels were closed during the inspection conducted in the district. Inspections were conducted in hotels and catering units in Punalur, Chatannoor, Kollam and Shastamkota regions. 36 institutions were inspected. Hotel New Plaza near Kollam KSRTC stand, Hotel Mahavishnu and Hotel Nedumpurat in Shastamkota Toppilmuk have been closed due to serious irregularities. The operations of the other two establishments, which were operating without a license, were suspended. Three institutions were fined and issued notices. Nine institutions were issued notices to remedy the deficiencies. Food Safety Officers Lakshmi V Nair, VS Arun Kumar, AA Anasi, Rekha, S Sangeeta, SR Razima, Sheena I Nair and S Manasa participated.
