Food safety inspections continue to be strict: 1704 inspections, 152 shops closed

The Food Safety Department continues to inspect hotels in the state. From the 2nd of this month till yesterday, 1704 inspections were carried out across the state. Action was taken against 152 shops which were not licensed or registered. Notices were issued to 531 institutions. 180 kg of unclean meat was seized. 129 samples were sent for testing.
Yesterday, 572 establishments were inspected. Action was taken against 10 shops which were not licensed or registered. Notices were issued to 65 institutions. 18 kilograms of unclean meat was seized and destroyed. Four samples were sent for testing.
So far 6069 kg of stale and chemically contaminated fish have been destroyed as part of Operation Fish. Out of 4026 tests during this period, 2048 samples were collected and sent for testing. As part of Operation Jagari, 481 establishments were inspected to detect adulteration in jaggery. A total of 134 surveillance samples of jaggery were collected for expert examination.
