Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency may arrest Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan today in connection with receiving foreign funds for the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party (PTI). A four-member squad has been formed to arrest Imran. Pakistani news channel ARY News reported that the move is to arrest as soon as the permission of the Director General of Police (DG) is obtained.

Earlier, a case was filed against Imran and other PTI leaders in the case of accepting funds from abroad for the party. It is said that Imran and ten others have violated the Foreign Exchange Act and all of them are the beneficiaries of a private bank account. PTI founder Akbar S Babar first filed a complaint in 2014. Babar also alleged that there were many financial manipulations related to party funds. But the PTI leaders were adamant that they had not done anything wrong.

A Scrutiny Committee was formed in 2018 to investigate the party’s finances. The committee submitted its report in 2022. In connection with this, 95 arguments were held in four years. According to the report, there has been a huge change in the fund. According to the report, money was received illegally, including from foreign nationals, and there are no documents for this and the source has not been revealed.
