Theni: Teams have been formed to conduct house-to-house inspection of 7700 beneficiaries who are receiving old age allowance irregularly based on Aadhaar records. Collector Muraleedharan has directed to identify those receiving old age assistance illegally and submit a report by July 25.

The Unique Identification Authority of India compiled the Aadhaar information and sent it to the Tamil Nadu government for review. According to this, 7700 beneficiaries in Theni district have been found to be receiving illegal benefits. 1500 people in each of 5 taluks in the district are benefiting illegally. As a result, the Collector has set up teams comprising Assistant Commissioner (Excise), Taluk Supply Officer and Revenue Department officials in each taluk and directed to conduct a direct investigation and submit a report by July 25. It has been informed that legal action will be taken in case of protesting and protesting in support of those who have been illegally benefited.
