Four Bangladeshi women umpires have been added to the development panel of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Apart from this, a Bangladeshi woman has been added as an international match referee.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Umpires Committee Chairman Iftekhar Ahmed Mithu confirmed the matter to RisingBD. In a message to the BCB, the ICC informed the inclusion of Bangladeshi women umpires in the panel.

The four women umpires who have been added to the development panel are Sathira Zakir JC, Rokeya Sultana, Dolly Rani Sarkar and Champa Chakma. And Supriya Rani Das has joined as match referee.

The BCB umpires committee has taken various steps in association with the ICC to improve the quality of male and female umpires. A few days ago Sathira JC and Mishu Chowdhury were appointed as umpires by BCB. Meanwhile, the news of adding Bangladeshi women umpires to the ICC development panel came. BCB Umpires Committee Chairman Mithu believes that this will be a milestone in the progress of women’s cricket in Bangladesh.
