Four people were killed and 35 others were injured when a public transport bus left the highway near the city of Leipzig in eastern Germany, in an accident whose causes were not immediately clear, according to what the police announced.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:45 (08:45 GMT), less than two hours after the bus left Berlin heading to Zurich, Switzerland.
During the day, the police announced the death of five people in the accident, but then reviewed the toll, noting that one of those who had been declared dead was found to be wounded and in critical condition.
The police added in a statement that the bus had 54 people on board at the time of the accident, including two drivers.
She explained that in addition to the four deaths, the accident resulted in 35 wounded, 29 of whom sustained minor injuries and the remaining six sustained serious injuries.
The police announced in a previous statement that “the bus deviated from its path and overturned.”
The ill-fated bus belonged to the German company Flexbus, which operates a large fleet of long-distance shared transportation buses in many European countries, Morocco, and the United States as well.
Flexbus said the drivers were “alive.”
According to the police, the drivers are a 62-year-old Czech and a 53-year-old Slovak.
The police confirmed that “there is no indication that another car was involved in the accident.”
Pictures published by the media showed the bus turned on its side near a row of trees.
