From March 11 to 21, the European under-22 boxing championship will be held in Porec, Croatia, in which Armenian athletes will also participate.

In the men’s fight, 12 boxers will defend Armenia’s sports honor: Seyran Yeghikyan (48 kg), Henrik Sahakyan (51 kg), Erik Tokhian (54 kg), Ruslan Aslikyan (57 kg), Artur Sahakyan (60 kg), Artur Shahbazyan (63.5 kg). ), Harutyun Hakobkokhyan (67 kg), Narek Zakaryan (71 kg), Vakhtang Harutyunyan (75 kg), Gor Nersisyan (80 kg), Henrik Chghrikyan (86 kg) and Hovhannes Papazyan (+86 kg), and in the women’s competition we will have 3 representative: Gayane Ter-Barseghyan (48 kg), Arevik Dokhoyan (52 kg) and Elida Kocharyan (60 kg).

According to Karen Aghamalyan, head coach of the Armenian national team, all boxers are ready for the European U22 Championship. “Last year we recorded an unprecedented result in this same tournament, winning gold and silver. This year, the composition of the team has been completely changed. We have done a great deal of work at the Qazyadzor gathering and here in Yerevan. Everyone is ready for the European U22 Championship.”

Aghamalyan also did not rule out that the young boxers participating in the U22 Championship can participate in the European Championship to be held in Yerevan in May. “I have expectations from all the participants. You can’t say what the draw will be like.”

The boxers led by Karen Aghamalyan will leave for the competition on March 11.
