Thiruvananthapuram – KSEB cut off the electricity of a student entrepreneur’s ice cream shop on the grounds of non-payment of electricity dues of Rs.215. Rohit Abraham, a young entrepreneur, lost Rs 1,12,300 due to ice cream spoilage. Rohit filed a complaint with the power minister against the loss of electricity by cutting it off without giving any notice.

KSEB disconnected the electricity of Rohith’s shop in Kollam. Rohit, who is currently a student in Bengaluru, got into the ice cream business when he was studying for his high school. At first, the ice cream shop was set up next to Amma’s eggplant shop. Later shops were opened in Varkala and Kollam. Stock deals are done by Rohit, who evaluates business while studying in Bengaluru.

It is seen that the electricity of the shop in Kollam was cut off three days ago. Each shop in the complex has separate meters. The meters are placed on one side of the shop. At first, I did not realize that the electricity was cut off. When I inquired, I realized that it was KSEB that cut off the electricity. Neither the building owner nor the establishment owner was notified. The KSEB staff also did not inform the borrowers before disconnecting the electricity. The investigation revealed that the KSEB’s message came on the mobile number of the person who ran the shop earlier on the third day.

Due to the power outage, all the ice cream that came in as new stock had changed shape and became unfit for sale. The owner of the establishment said that if he had informed about the bill before the electricity was cut off, he would have paid the money immediately.

English Summary: A student entrepreneur’s ice cream shop’s power connection was canceled by KSEB, and he has lost 1.12 lakhs
