BENGALURU: Indian opener Rituraj Gaikwad has been criticized by fans and former players for his misbehavior with the groundsman during the fifth Twenty20 match of the India-South Africa series. India started the match 50 minutes late due to heavy rain.

Gaikwad has been hit by a video circulating on social media as Indian players sit on a team dugout ready for batting. The groundsman in the next seat asks permission to take a selfie with the paddled and ready to bat.

The video also shows Gaikwad gesturing to the groundsman to move away. After this, the video is cut. After the video went viral, the season ‘went on the air’ as fans flocked to the scene with rumors.

It is noteworthy that while many criticized the player for his bad behavior towards the groundsman, few fans came out in support of the season.

Such people supported Gaikwad’s behavior, citing Kovid restrictions and biobibles. The series ended in a draw (2–2) after the match was abandoned due to rain. Gaikwad scored 10 runs off 12 balls, including a boundary.
