A youtuber traveled to Haiti to interview a gang leader, however, the plan did not go as expected and he was kidnapped by the criminal group.

Addison Pierre Maalouf, better known as YourFellowArab, is an American YouTuber who sought in Haiti to engage in an interview with criminal leader Jimmy “Barbecoa” Chérizier, who directs the groups G9 and Family.

The desire to generate content with said interview was eclipsed after the American ended up being kidnapped along with his Haitian friend, at the hands of the 400 Mawozo gang, on March 14.

The kidnappers announced that they demand the amount of 600 thousand dollars to free both subjects, having already charged 40 thousand dollars initially.

According to local media, the money that the criminal group has received is not enough to free the YouTuber and they consider that the situation “remains critical.”

How was the YouTuber’s disappearance made known?

The news began to spread quickly in Haiti and later, followers of the content creator found out thanks to a friend of Maalouf.

In the footage, the YouTuber commented that it was dangerous to be in Haiti, since it was a country where violence broke out very often and there was no control for the gangs.

Lalem, a friend of Maalouf, mentioned that his friend had indeed been kidnapped and they were looking for a way for the criminals to free him.

After the event, other YouTubers mentioned that they were able to maintain contact with their friend through the kidnappers’ phone.

“Lord Miles” Routledge, content creator, mentioned that in an alleged call with Maalouf, he was able to verify that he was locked in a cage east of the capital of Haiti.

The latter also criticized that the United States government has not done much to rescue his colleague, who is an American and remains captured against his will.

It is worth mentioning that the US State Department determined that Haiti is a “Do Not Travel” location, after Jimmy “Barbecoa” Chérizier took control of the streets and caused Prime Minister Ariel Henry to resign.
