Gangsta’s Paradise legend Coolio has died
The US rapper Coolio is dead! He died in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the age of 59. The portal reports „TMZ“ and broadcaster CNN, citing the musician’s manager.
Manager Jarez Posey said he was visiting a friend when he passed away. Accordingly, the rapper went to the toilet there – but did not come back. Then his friend found him lying on the ground.
An emergency doctor who was called declared Coolio dead on the spot. According to the report, the paramedics suspect that he suffered a cardiac arrest. An official cause of death has not yet been announced.
With his song “Gangsta’s Paradise” Artis Leon Ivey, as Coolio was called, made it a world hit in 1995. He also garnered a Grammy solo rap performance with the song.
Nominated for five other Grammys during his career, which began in the late 1980s.
On social media, many expressed their sadness at the musician’s untimely death. Rapper and companion Ice Cube (53) wrote down Twitter: “I saw first hand how this man worked his way up to the top of the industry. Rest in peace Coolio.”
DJ Questlove (51) wrote: “Peaceful journey, brother.” Rap legend Snoop Dogg (50) posted on a Instagram sharing a picture with Coolio, captioned it, “Gangstas Paradise, RIP.”
