Our country rejected the entry of 1,463 commercial shipments with agri-food products during 2023, after verifying the presence of 258 pests of quarantine importance, reported the Secretary of Agriculture y Rural development.

Officials of the National Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality Service (Senasica) inspected almost 47 million tons of goods agricultural, aquaculture y fishing and they rejected the entry of 263 thousand tons. Of the total shipments rejected, 58% were merchandise of animal origin; 40% of plant origin and 2% aquaculture.

Among the main pests detected are specimens of fruit flies, weeds and nematodes.

To execute these actions, the health inspection officers of the National Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality Service (Senasica) They reviewed 46 million 876 thousand 506 tons of agricultural, aquaculture and fishing products.

Of the rejected shipments, 64% occurred in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, in which 247 were intercepted; followed by Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, with 196 shipments; Manzanillo, Colima, with 183; the AICM with 174 charges held.
