Rahmanullah Gurbaz, excellent with the bat. Batting with a cool head and murderous mood. Brilliant behind the wicket with the gloves too. As was Mahendra Singh Dhoni. So there is some similarity between Dhoni and Gurbaz. But no one said that. Said Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar. He saw some shadow of Dhoni in Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Gurbaz has so far played 37 ODIs and 49 T20Is for Afghanistan. Scored more than 1200 runs in both formats. Kolkata Knight Riders have joined him in the upcoming IPL. Gavaskar feels Gurbaz’s inclusion in the team has been profitable for Kolkata.

Praising the Afghan opening batsman, Gavaskar said, ‘I like his batting a lot. Liked everything I saw of his batting. He is very aggressive. His batting is somewhat a copy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Maybe that’s why his batting stuck in my mind.’

Not only that, Gurbaz’s calm and unassuming nature impressed India’s one of the greatest opening batsmen of all time.

After the T20 series against India in January this year, Gurbaz said that whenever he gets a chance, he takes advice from Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni to improve his batting.
