Indirect talks on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, brokered by Egypt and Qatar, are continuing and representatives of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency remain in Doha for talks, a source familiar with the talks told Reuters today.

Other Mossad representatives are returning to Israel for consultations regarding the negotiations, the source also reported, BTA reported.

The UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza has no immediate impact on the Doha talks, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said.

Dozens of Palestinians were killed in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip overnight, Reuters reported.

The area around Ash Shifa hospital in northern Gaza and the city of Rafah in southern Gaza, where more than one million are displaced, were hit.

Israel says it is planning a ground offensive against Rafah, which Israel says has become a haven for militants of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.

Israel launched its military operation in the Gaza Strip after Hamas militants carried out an unprecedented attack on the Jewish state on October 7 last year.
