Google is making it easier to share conversations from its Gemini AI app, rolling out changes to the Android version that place the sharing function more prominently. The update, reported by 9to5Google, aims to streamline the process of disseminating Gemini chats, alongside adjustments to the app’s overflow menu.
Previously, the Gemini app for Android centered the chat title in the top bar, requiring a tap to reveal a bottom sheet menu with various options, including a “fresh chat” button located in the top-right corner. The redesign shifts the chat title to the left, positioning the “new chat” button immediately beside it. Following this, users will now uncover dedicated “share” and “overflow” icons. The share function instantly generates a shareable link, while the overflow menu—accessed via the traditional three-dot icon—provides options to pin, rename, delete, access help resources, and provide feedback.

While the changes offer a more conventional user experience, 9to5Google notes the new layout may feel slightly cluttered, particularly with the existing “hamburger” icon on the opposite side of the screen. The publication suggests consolidating the share function within the overflow menu could alleviate this concern.
Currently, the updated interface is available on the Gemini Android app and the web version at gemini.google.com. Still, users on iOS devices have not yet received the same changes.
In a separate update, Google recently increased the size of the Gemini spark—the app’s icon—on iPhone and iPad devices. The larger sparkle now aligns more closely with the perimeter of the rounded square, bringing it in line with the visual style of other Google applications. This update was version 1.2026.0570001.
Google’s adjustments to Gemini’s sharing features reflect a broader effort to enhance user experience and streamline functionality within its AI-powered applications. Users can expect further refinements as Google continues to iterate on the platform. The company has not yet announced a timeline for bringing the Android interface changes to iOS.
