Sale of a drum machine designed, produced and assembled by LA Priest.

Few electronic artists design their own machines. The days of Kraftwerk, who liked to play the soldering iron to imagine their instruments, seem to be over. Yet some diehards, like the Englishman Sam Dust, aka LA Priest, continue to dream of unique drum machines, personalized according to their very particular use. For ten years and his electronic transformation, the former singer-guitarist of the flamboyant Late of the Pier has been working on a beast that he named Gene III (a name he has liked since the release of his second album Gene in 2020, at the cover decorated with an early version of the machine). Entirely designed, assembled by hand and calibrated by LA Priest, this portable drum machine is now offered for sale by its creator at the price of 1,240 pounds (a little over 1,400 euros). A little expensive of course, but Sam Dust has thought of everything and also sells the MiniGENE, a “light” version of his creation, for 488 pounds. To be reserved for tinkerers.
