Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a meeting in the government with the heads of large companies engaged in export and import, reports the news service of the government.

In his speech, the Prime Minister noted.

“First of all, I want to thank you that despite all the difficulties, you continue to work as normally as possible. Of course, during this period we have a task to coordinate our actions and provide maximum good conditions for exports from our country and imports to our country. I can say that in recent days we have been working with our partners in Georgia and Russia and yesterday we reached an agreement that both Georgia and Russia will provide, so to speak, a “green zone” for EAEU cargoes, that is, through the territory of Georgia and Upper In Lars, a separate zone will be set aside, essentially, for Armenian cargo. Of course, the agreement at the political level is an agreement, but it still needs to be made a reality and put into practice.

Also, since now decisions are being made quickly to introduce various restrictions in the Russian Federation, and this may cause some panicky moods in Armenia, particularly among consumers, it is very important to record that we have reached an agreement that, in fact, the restrictions that will be announced, they will not apply to EAEU or at least to Armenia.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that the above-mentioned agreement is clear and final. Nikol Pashinyan added, taking into account the problem of product supply, Russian partners are also interested in ensuring that products are delivered to their stores and consumer markets in a normal manner.

Nikol Pashinyan noted that he receives import statistics on a daily basis and added that we have enough stocks of goods in the country.

“Also, we need to understand how we coordinate the problems related to export and import in this period, so that the agreements we had with the political leadership of Russia and Georgia are implemented in a normal way,” said the head of the government.

Then the businessmen presented the problems and difficulties caused by the current situation in the direction of export and import, and made recommendations for their solution. In turn, Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan and Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Davit Ananyan presented the necessary clarifications.

The Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Economy to present a mechanism for constant communication with businessmen, which will allow to respond to their problems as quickly as possible and find operational solutions.

Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that taking into account the foreign exchange and logistics problems, the government has approved several programs of anti-crisis measures to neutralize the consequences of the coronavirus, with which, through the proposed instruments, it shares the risks of businessmen by providing preferential, including zero-interest, credit funds.

“Our political will is to support businessmen in whatever way we can,” the Prime Minister emphasized, emphasizing the introduction of such mechanisms that would allow the state and the private sector to act quickly and efficiently in crisis situations.
