Germany: More than 70,000 people took to the streets against anti-COVID restrictions

by time news

Yesterday, Monday, just like last week, tens of thousands of people across Germany demonstrated against the ongoing measures to combat the coronavirus and the introduction of mandatory nationwide vaccination against COVID-19. More than 70,000 people took to the streets across the country this week, according to police estimates.

The demonstrations were held in the presence of a large gathering of guardians of the lock. Pro-restriction counter-demonstrations took place in some cities. According to media reports, rallies were disrupted several times, for example in Rostock and Cottbus, because the police could not find a leader or because there were demands for compliance with security rules. Many participants were not wearing protective masks.

The police website reports that on Monday evening in Thuringia alone, 21,000 demonstrators took to the streets to protest against the restrictions. In Bavaria, about 14,000 people took part in protest actions in Bavaria, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 11,000, about 7,000 in Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg and about 4,000 in North Rhine-Westphalia in Saxony and Berlin about 3,000 people.

Hamburg police officers described in the microblog about the earlier incident. On January 8, they posted information that one of the demonstrators during the protest attached a Star of David to his clothes with the inscription “unvaccinated”. “We launched an investigation on suspicion of inciting ethnic hatred and confiscated the star,” the police said in a tweet.

In other cities, actions were held, including under the slogan “Parents, grandparents say !!!NO!!! vaccinating children against COVID-19”, “The cup of patience is overflowing. Hands off our children,” write dpa and dw.com.
