The powerful rockfall occurred just after four in the morning. The stones that ended up on the football field weigh around 270 tonnes, according to fire coordinator Brede Tjønneland in Vaksdal Fire Protection, as the newspaper Vaksdalposten have talked to.
The football field, which is normally very popular, is closed after the landslide. There are also the roads into the area. Geologist has been notified.
– I think it’s a shame that the activity on the football field has to be postponed. There is an active environment for football here, and a sports field that is used a lot, says Vik to VG.
It is not clear how long the area will be closed.
