The 1st Conference on the polyphonic singing of Epirus is organized by the Polyphonic Singing Association of Pogonis, bearing in mind the importance of preserving this archaic type of singing.
The conference will take place on Saturday, March 30, at 6 pm, in the conference room of the Labor Center of Ioannina (Yosef Eligia 7).
Speakers of the Conference will be the Professor of Social Folklore at the University of Ioannina Vassilis Nitsiakos, the chairman of the Greek Language and Literature Department at the University of Argyrokastro, former member of parliament, writer, journalist, deputy professor Panagiotis Barkas, the professor of Advanced Theory, musicologist Kostas Lolis, the head of the Regional of the ERT station of Ioannina, cultural expert – Master of Arts Panagiotis Tzokas, the vice-regional governor of Culture of Epirus, recorder and presenter of popular culture TV shows Ilias Gartzonikas, the PhD candidate of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University in the field of Ethnomusicology, professor of music at the Music School of Ioannina Panagiotis Tellis, the dance teacher, Doctor of the University of Ioannina Vassilis Raptis and the experiential performer, researcher of Epirotic polyphonic song Christos Gogos.
