Girls’ schools not open in Afghanistan: Girls with demands to be allowed to study

by time news

Kabul: The closure of most girls’ schools in Afghanistan is creating a crisis. Afghan girls are struggling with the Taliban’s demand that schools be opened for them to study. Human rights activists also point out that the authorities discriminate against some schools in Afghanistan.

But the Taliban claim that 75 percent of the country’s girls have been allowed to go to school. The Taliban have been controversial in closing thousands of girls’ schools in Afghanistan since taking power last August. The Taliban have allowed girls to go to school in only seven of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces, the news agency reports.

Earlier, the Taliban had given permission to open secondary schools in the country. But the Taliban have so far not taken any positive steps to ensure that girls go to school.
