Singapore The chip contract manufacturer has opened a semiconductor factory in Singapore as part of its global expansion course. The total investment amounts to four billion dollars, as the company announced on Tuesday. “If we operate at full capacity, this will probably account for 45 percent of Globalfoundries’ revenue,” said Singapore manager Tan Yew Kong.

Weak global demand for chips will pick up again in the second half of 2024. Globalfoundries is considered the world’s third-largest chip manufacturer behind Taiwan’s TSMC and South Korea’s Samsung Electronics.
