With an early goal from Bayron Garcés, Envigado took the three points against Patriotas, a duel valid for date 9 of the Betplay League that was played this Tuesday at the Sur Sports Center.
In the first half, Envigado wasted no time and went ahead on the scoreboard before 30 seconds of the game. The orange team recovered the ball in the opposite field with Félix Charrupí who sent the ball to Rubio España and he filtered a ball to Bayron Garcés who took an exquisite shot to beat goalkeeper Juan David Valencia.
On the 15th, the local team came close again in a recovery in the middle of the field by Garcés and there the forward went directly to the area to take a shot that was saved by Valencia and then the ball went one way after a new shot by Garcés after the rebound left by the goalkeeper.
Half an hour into the duel, Patriotas arrived with Gianfranco Peña who took a free kick from the right that was very centered and there goalkeeper Joan Parra kept the ball. Already in the second half, Envigado had a clear chance to increase the score. Juan Manuel Cuesta took a shot from the left on the edge of the area that complicated the Valencia goalkeeper. There, Garcés grabbed the ball and took a cross for Luis Ángel Díaz who, instead of heading into the Patriotas goal, cleared the ball.
After this opportunity, an action by Patriotas arose that ended in a penalty. Geindry Cuervo hit Diego Ruiz’s ankle and the Boyacenses player fell in the area. After a long VAR review, the judge called the foul. However, Peña’s twelve-step shot was saved by goalkeeper Parra.
Patriotas continued in search of a tie and this time they had another chance with Daniel Rodas who wanted to surprise Parra and took a low shot from a free kick that barely went past the side of Envigado’s goal.
Towards the 80th minute, Envigado could have gone ahead on the scoreboard, but the judge determined that Garcés had crossed the ball in a great way.
In addition, Patriotas would have one more chance to tie with Santiago Roa who received a cross from the left, but the Boyacenses player could not direct the ball.
With this result, Envigado reached 12 points and is in 11th place in the tournament while Patriotas is second to last with five points.
