Goldilocks Pediatrics Brings New Healthcare Option to Buckhannon Families

Providing comprehensive and individualized pediatric care, Goldilocks Pediatrics officially opened its doors on Jan. 5, marking a significant addition to the healthcare landscape of Buckhannon, West Virginia. The new practice, spearheaded by Dr. Jessica Mongold, aims to offer a “just right” approach to children’s health, catering to the unique needs of each patient and family.

A Community-Focused Practice

The opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Buckhannon-Upshur Chamber of Commerce, signaling a warm welcome from the local business community. Located at 1 Bobcat Lane, near the performing arts center at West Virginia Wesleyan College, the office is conveniently situated for families throughout the region. Regular hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Driven by Local Roots and Expertise

Dr. Mongold, the owner and practicing physician, brings a deep connection to Buckhannon and a wealth of specialized training to her new venture. She completed both her Master of Science in Nursing and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at West Virginia Wesleyan College. “I love Buckhannon,” Dr. Mongold stated. “I’ve worked in Buckhannon for five years, and when the opportunity presented itself, I knew I wanted to stay here and treat the patients that I’ve had for five years and keep seeing them grow up.” This commitment to continuity of care underscores the practice’s patient-centered philosophy.

Personalized Care: The “Just Right” Approach

Goldilocks Pediatrics distinguishes itself through its dedication to individualized care. The practice’s slogan, “providing care that’s just right for every child,” reflects a commitment to tailoring treatment plans to the specific needs of each patient. “Our slogan is providing care that’s just right for every child, so providing care that’s individualized, catered and tailored to every patient, knowing that can be different for different families,” Dr. Mongold explained.

The practice is staffed by a dedicated team, including a medical assistant, a licensed practical nurse (LPN), and an office manager, allowing Dr. Mongold to focus on direct patient care as a sole practitioner.

Building on a Foundation of Pediatric Experience

Dr. Mongold’s passion for pediatrics stems from extensive experience in critical care settings. She previously worked in both the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and the neonatal ICU, gaining valuable expertise in managing complex medical cases. “I worked in the pediatric ICU when I was a nurse and was cross-trained to the neonatal ICU,” she said. “Right out of school, I started doing pediatrics, so I got that patient base established, and I love it.”

Comprehensive Services for Growing Families

Goldilocks Pediatrics will function as a primary care provider, offering a full range of services for children of all ages. These include well-child checkups, sports physicals, and essential immunizations. The practice will also serve as a trusted resource for families when a child is ill, providing timely and compassionate care.
