True Linkswear Disrupts Golf Footwear with Comfort and Performance Focus
A Seattle-based company is challenging the status quo in golf footwear, prioritizing comfort, natural movement, and performance over traditional aesthetics. True Linkswear, founded in 2010, is experiencing notable growth as it expands its product line and gains traction with golfers seeking a more natural feel on the course.
ORLANDO – In 2009, Jason Moore found himself questioning the very foundation of golf equipment while caddying for his brother, Ryan, on the PGA Tour. Having grown up on their father’s driving range in Tacoma, Washington, the brothers possessed a deep understanding of the game, but felt the equipment available didn’t align with the natural movements of a golfer. This feeling intensified after Jason encountered a book, “Born to Run,” detailing the running practices of indigenous tribes and the benefits of minimal footwear.
“Why does every golf shoe feel the same?” he wondered. “And why do none of them feel right?”
this question sparked an epiphany during a post-round dinner with Ryan: the golf shoe market lacked innovation, technology, and a focus on wellness. “It was a very outdated technology platform being used in golf,” a company representative stated recently at the 2026 PGA Show, where True Linkswear showcased its full product line. “For the most part, you were seeing a traditional dress shoe or a lifestyle sneaker, not engineered for the athletic motion.”
The Moore brothers promptly began to experiment, with Ryan, a size 10, testing early minimalist prototypes in competitive rounds. These shoes were a departure from the norm – lighter, lower to the ground, and designed to allow for natural foot movement. They launched their first shoe in 2010 with no guarantee of success, but the quick sales validated their vision.
More than 15 years later, True Linkswear is thriving, offering a growing collection of ultra-cozy, modern golf footwear suitable for both on and off-course wear. “We’re in that grate spot right now where we kind of have something for everybody,” a company official noted.
However, mass appeal was never the primary goal. True Linkswear aims to provide a different experience – one that blends comfort, style, and performance for golfers who prioritize feeling connected to the ground and enjoying greater freedom of movement. “You’re on your feet for seven hours between playing and practicing and walking seven or more miles. You kind of want something that works well with your body,” Ryan Moore explained. “I liken the golf shoe to the golf ball. Those are the only two things you’re using every single shot, right? The golf ball and shoes are a part of everything you do on the golf course. I wish more people took the time to get fitted for the proper shoe the way they do for a golf ball.”
Today, Jason Moore leads product and brand direction, continually pushing the boundaries of comfort and design.Ryan remains heavily involved in testing, research and progress, and building relationships with players, resorts, and venues that share their commitment to innovation. “As soon as we get a sample in my size, it’s sent to me,” Ryan said, “and I will go out and practice in it and play in it, try and beat it up and test it and we’ll make any adjustments we need to make.”
The company’s latest offering, the Antigravity model, is designed for unpredictable conditions and long days. It features True Linkswear’s new Pebax Superfoam midsole, which delivers a unique combination of lightweight cushioning, responsiveness, and durability. The company claims this technology provides a low-compression ride that offers both stability and effortless comfort throughout an entire round, or even a full day off the course.
Despite its growing success, True Linkswear remains a relatively small operation, with approximately 35 employees in Seattle. This nimble structure allows the company to maintain its focus on quality and responsiveness to the needs of real golfers. The company’s origin wasn’t driven by a market trend, but by a fundamental question and a refusal to accept conventional wisdom.
“We’re authentic to the game and we actually care about the performance of the footwear in a level that most people don’t,” Jason Moore concluded.
