Google Expands Dreambeans AI App to India in 14 Languages

Google has expanded its experimental AI app Dreambeans to India in 14 languages for users aged 18 and older, marking the proactive storytelling tool’s first international market outside the United States following its initial rollout earlier this year.

The app creates a handcrafted visual journey of a user’s everyday life by drawing on personal data from up to six connected Google services, including Calendar, Gemini, Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube. Google product manager Gozde Oznur explained during a briefing that the company chose India for its first overseas launch due to a high overlap of active users across those services and strong local interest in the experimental platform. Alphabet-owned Google announced that India stood out because no other country really ranks on all three core services in the same way, making it a natural place to bring the platform first to connect around family, food, travel, and festivals like Diwali.

How Dreambeans Curates Personalized Visual Feeds from Google Data

Unlike general-purpose conversational chatbots, Dreambeans focuses on generating personalized stories instead of responding to a broad range of user queries. Market intelligence firm Sensor Tower estimated that the application recorded nearly 55,000 downloads in the U.S. since its debut, with about 63% of those figures coming in September when the app opened to all eligible U.S. accounts. In comparison, Sensor Tower estimates show general-purpose AI assistants drew far higher first-month downloads, reaching 2.8 million for ChatGPT and 155,000 for Claude, against 29,000 for Dreambeans during its first 30 days after launch.

When a story involves the user or people in their life, Dreambeans can use Google Photos and Nano Banana 2 to personalize the scene instead of generic stock imagery, provided that Google Photos face grouping is enabled. The app builds a daily feed by drawing on the specific Google services each user selects, and every story includes AI-generated artwork while allowing users to open items for more detail, bookmark them, or share them.

Each suggestion integrates a Gemini-esque chatbot, and you can ask further questions and context there. Users can pick only one language at a time for their stories, and the Personal Intelligence connections remain optional.

Language Support and Regional Limitations Across India

Dreambeans is available on Android and iOS across 14 languages in India, including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Assamese, Nepali, alongside English. However, users can select only one language at a time for their generated stories.

Access is restricted strictly to personal Gmail account holders; business and enterprise accounts are excluded from the launch. The rollout follows a phased U.S. release that began on June 3, 2026, for eligible AI Ultra subscribers before opening to all consumer accounts on September 10, 2026.

Privacy Controls and Data Deletion Safeguards

Because the platform depends heavily on personal digital activity, Google has built optional permission controls into the application. Google noted that these app opt-ins are kept separate from Gemini Apps and AI Mode settings.

When you delete one of the source facts, we have a deletion propagation where the system understands that it is no longer valid, and we then take that information out.

Our product’s vision is simple: we wanted to solve the frustration caused by siloed digital information across the apps that you use every day and build something proactive that does not require prompting.

Corrections are processed for future daily drops rather than immediately changing current stories because the system takes time to synthesize each collection.

Other consumer Gemini moves from Google include adding hundreds of free textbooks to Gemini Notebook and tracking its model cadence through the Gemini Catalogue, which featured 16 model launches in 99 days with prices.
