The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, referred to the actions that the Government will take after the kidnapping of the former Venezuelan military officer and how it is coordinating with said country.

The Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalveannounced during this day that the Government will file a complaint for the kidnapping of the former Venezuelan soldierRonald Ojeda Moreno.

The incident would have occurred when four subjects posed as officials of the Investigative Police (Migrations) and entered his apartment, located in the commune of Independencia, to take him away.

In this context, this Thursday the Ministry of the Interior together with the national prosecutor Ángel Valencia and the prosecutor Héctor Barroswho is the pursuer leading said case.

According to what was said by the Government authority, in this matter “it is open to all hypotheses (…) Today we held a meeting to inform the President of the Republic“.

This is because “it is very Coordination with the Public Ministry, which is in charge of the investigation, is important. and therefore conducts the proceedings to clarify this possible crime,” according to Manuel Monsalve.

Continuing along this line, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve, announced that the Government decided to file a complaint, as in other cases of serious crimes, such as homicides or kidnappings.

“It seems to us that it is a very important decision, a complaint that is presented by the Government through the Ministry of the Interior to give a political signal that the Government is interested in these cases being resolved, that they do not go unpunished and that they are clarified. Besides, “This allows the Government to be part of the proceedings to clarify this type of crimes.”Monsalve explained.

Regarding the coordination of national authorities with Venezuela, the Undersecretary of the Interior noted that “Some diplomatic efforts have been requested through the ambassador that Chile has in Venezuela“.

To which he added: “There is a collaborative relationship between our police forces and therefore, the PDI has also had contact with its police counterparts in Venezuela.”

In this sense, he explained that “there have been contact both at diplomatic level which has been requested through our ambassador, as contact at police levelfrom the PDI with the Venezuelan police.”
