Aslanidis, an agriculturalist living in Peristeri, Athens, has been missing since August 7, 2025. He had arrived in Karytaina, Arcadia—his family’s ancestral village—for a short visit on July 31, 2025, according to reports from Tanea and Enikos. On the morning of August 7th, he told family members he was going for a ride on his motorcycle, but he failed to return. Initial searches by police and volunteers failed to locate either Aslanidis or his motorcycle.
Security Footage Traces Final Ride Toward Lousios River
Security camera footage documented Aslanidis’s last confirmed movements. According to Enikos and Newsbomb, he was seen parking his motorcycle in the town square before riding in the direction of the Lousios River. A camera positioned near the central church captured him mounting the motorcycle right before he vanished from view. Investigators are examining whether he took an alternate route, noting that he had asked about the best way to reach local monasteries the previous day.
Forest Ranger Conversation and Cannabis Operation Fears
A witness told Newsbomb that Aslanidis spoke with a seasonal forest ranger near a fire station shortly before he disappeared. After Aslanidis asked for alternative routes, the ranger told him to go back the way he came and mentioned recent police operations targeting cannabis cultivation in the area. This sequence has sparked worry that Aslanidis may have stumbled onto illicit activity. I’m afraid he saw something he shouldn’t have and something happened to him, the witness stated to Newsbomb.
Monasteries Searched, No Trace of Missing Agriculturalist
Police searched three monasteries in the Lousios River area, uncovering no trace of the missing agriculturalist. Monks at the Aimyali Monastery and the Philosopher Monastery confirmed Aslanidis had neither been seen nor stayed there. A general church official from the Metropolis of Gortynia and Megalopolis verified that Aslanidis had not visited and that police had already searched the premises. Meanwhile, the police investigation continues, and Aslanidis’s family has made an emotional appeal for information on the television program Light in the Tunnel.
