Arrest and search and seizure warrants were served in Dourados, Ponta Porã and Guia Lopes da Laguna
This Friday, the Federal Police carried out 21 search and seizure warrants and three temporary arrest warrants in Dourados, Ponta Porã and Guia Lopes da Laguna, during Operation Sanctus, to dismantle an organization linked to international drug trafficking, money laundering and connection with criminal factions.
O Campo Grande News found that the targets are the same as those investigated as part of Operation Akã, the second phase of which also took place today in Dourados.
The warrants were issued by the 3rd Federal Court of Justice in Campo Grande and served in the municipalities of Maricá (RJ), Araruama (RJ), Cambé (PR), Feliz Natal (MT) and Paranatinga (MT). In Feliz Natal is the farm of one of the brothers who lead the gang.
According to the Federal Police, investigations began in October and identified the two brothers who were leaders of the criminal organization, based in Dourados. The group hid drugs in the tires of cargo trucks to be shipped from Pedro Juan Caballero, in Paraguay, to the interior of Paraná. The cargo then had Rio de Janeiro as its destination.
Those investigated used a network of people and companies to launder drug money and made cash deposits at self-service terminals. The scheme also included the concealment of assets of companies and properties owned in the name of “oranges” and “foreheads”.
The other operation, Akã II, carried out four search and seizure warrants and one preventive arrest warrant. Among the locations searched are Audaz Restaurante and a house in the luxury condominium Ecoville 2.
According to the PF, this new phase of operation Akã falls on the suspect of trying to obstruct the investigative work targeting the criminal organization responsible for sending large quantities of drugs to cities in the Southeast region of the country.
