A fire broke out in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, on Tuesday, affecting two homes in the Cruz Verde sector of the Cathedral parish. Fortunately, authorities report only material losses and no injuries. The fire was reported to emergency services after 4:00 PM local time when residents noticed smoke coming from the residences and immediately alerted officials.
A swift response was mounted by Municipal Firefighters, the Aeronautics service, and personnel from Corpoelec, the state-owned electric corporation, to contain the blaze.
Rapid Response Controls Flames
Firefighting teams successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading to neighboring structures. A senior official stated,”The speedy action of our combined forces was instrumental in controlling the fire and minimizing potential damage.” The fire was extinguished quickly, preventing further escalation of the situation.
Electrical Fault Suspected Cause
Preliminary investigations suggest an electrical malfunction was the source of the fire. The fire department report indicates that the detachment of a 13,800 KVA guaya – a high-voltage electrical conductor – likely initiated the incident. A supervisor from the Electrical corporation was at the scene to assess the damage and begin repairs. The extent of the material damage is still being evaluated, but authorities have confirmed there was no loss of life or physical harm.
