South Korean Agencies Launch ESG Quiz Event with AI-Powered Patrol Robot Spotlight
A new initiative aims to boost awareness of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices through an interactive social media campaign featuring a cutting-edge security robot.
The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency and the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation announced on November 11th the launch of a social network service (SNS) quiz event centered around ESG practices, running from November 12th to November 18th. This collaborative effort seeks to engage the public and promote the importance of sustainable and responsible business conduct.
The event is a joint undertaking between the Gyeonggi Southern Office, responsible for operating ‘Paldalbot,’ an innovative, eco-friendly security robot, and the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, a pioneering public institution in the arts that has formally adopted ESG management principles.
Paldalbot, a patrol robot currently deployed in the Hwaseong Temporary Palace area, represents a significant advancement in public safety technology. Utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), the robot is equipped with 4-way closed-circuit television (CCTV) and flame detection sensors, enabling it to detect distress signals like screams and falls. This information is then relayed to both a central control center and nearby police stations, enhancing response times and overall security.
The Gyeonggi Southern District Office will host a quiz on its official Instagram account challenging participants to identify the name of the patrol robot. Simultaneously, the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation will conduct a quiz focusing on the core tenets of ESG: environment, society, and governance. Participants who submit the correct answers and tag a friend “with whom you want to protect the Earth” will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including tumblers, with winners announced on November 21st.
“This will be an opportunity for public institutions to collaborate to promote ESG values and communicate with citizens,” stated Gyeonggi Southern District Commissioner Hwang Chang-seon. The initiative underscores a growing trend among South Korean organizations to prioritize sustainability and social responsibility, integrating these principles into their operational frameworks.
This event signals a broader commitment to leveraging technology and public engagement to advance ESG principles within the region and beyond.
