46-year-old Soviet gymnast, who also played for Uzbekistan and Germany, Olympic champion, three-time world champion, participant of eight Olympics Oksana Chusovitina announced her retirement.
Today in Tokyo, she was unable to make it to the final of the Olympic tournament in the vault. After the performance, the gymnast with tears in her eyes announced that she was leaving the sport.
“That’s all for sure. I will not return to this. I am already 46 years old! I have so many things to do, it’s time to catch up,” Chusovitina said, thanking the spectators and coaches of the Uzbekistan national team.
