Halo Infinite’s Final Update, ‘Operation Infinite,’ Arrives November 18, 2025, as Developer Shifts Focus to Halo: Campaign Evolved

Halo Infinite players are facing a bittersweet farewell as developer Halo Studios announced Friday that the upcoming update, “Operation Infinite,” will be the last planned content update for the game. The team is now turning its attention to “multiple Halo titles,” including the highly anticipated remake, Halo: Campaign Evolved.

“Operation Infinite,” arriving on November 18, 2025, is ironically named, given its finality, but promises a substantial wave of new cosmetic items. Players can look forward to a free 100-tier Operation Pass filled with new armor sets and customization options.

One standout armor set, the Serpin armor, is particularly noteworthy. Designed to evoke the aesthetic of Honor Guard Elites from Halo 2, the Serpin armor is presented in-universe as a reward bestowed upon Spartans by Thel ‘Vadam, leader of the Swords of Sanghelios, for their valor in combat alongside his forces. Alongside the new cosmetics, players will receive a 2X boost to Career Rank and Spartan Points, accelerating the acquisition of new equipment from the Exchange. The Exchange itself will be expanded with over 200 new armor pieces and customization items, building upon recent additions inspired by Fireteam Osiris from Halo 5: Guardians.

Looking ahead, Halo: Campaign Evolved is slated for release sometime in 2026, and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5. A senior official at Halo Studios shared that the team is “excited to bring the classic Halo experience to a new generation of players, and to new platforms.” The studio expressed gratitude for the community’s support throughout Halo Infinite’s lifecycle.

“It’s been a legendary run of Seasons, Events, Fractures, and Operations, with plenty of maps, modes, sandbox additions, Forge tool upgrades, and incredible memories along the way,” a company release stated. “None of those milestones would have been possible without the guidance and enthusiasm of our community.”

The shift in focus comes as Halo Studios transitions to a customized version of Unreal Engine 5 for future projects. While acknowledging the sadness surrounding the end of Halo Infinite development, one analyst noted that the game is “landing in a far better place than it started.” The developer’s commitment to future Halo projects has sparked speculation, with many hoping for a continuation of the Infinite storyline – potentially Halo 7 – or even a revival of the real-time strategy subseries with Halo Wars 3. “Furthermore, Halo Wars 3 must be developed,” the original source emphatically stated.

Halo Infinite: Key Details

  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Windows PC (Steam and Xbox on PC)
  • Free-to-Play: The multiplayer component of Halo Infinite is free-to-play.
  • Campaign Access: The single-player campaign is a paid purchase, but is also available through Xbox Game Pass.

I’ll definitely be diving in for some more Firefight and Big Team Battle to earn those new armor sets, and I can’t help but speculate and hope regarding “multiple” Halo titles being on the way.
