Hamburg is bracing for a busy Saturday, with six demonstrations planned across the city, covering issues from violence against women to international conflicts and political extremism.
The largest demonstration, “Hamburg for the examination of right-wing extremist parties!” will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning and ending at Rathausmarkt. The route will proceed via Jungfernstieg, Gänsemarkt, Dammtorstraße, Stephansplatz, Lombardsbrücke, Steintorwall and Mönckebergstraße. Police anticipate approximately 6,000 participants.
Hamburg: A Day of Diverse Demonstrations
A dance demonstration, “One Billion Rising 2026 – dance demo against violence against women and girls!” is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., starting at Gänsemarkt, continuing through Jungfernstieg and Bergstrasse, and concluding on Mönckebergstrasse near the Mönckebergbrunnen. Organizers expect around 200 participants.
The afternoon will see increased congestion as “For International Law – Against the US War in Venezuela!” begins at 1 p.m. and continues until 3:30 p.m. The march will start at Gänsemarkt, traveling via Valentinskamp, Johannes-Brahms-Platz, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße, Axel-Springer-Platz, Stadthausbrücke, Rödingsmarkt, Baumwall and Niederbaumbrücke to the Kehrwiederspitze. Approximately 1,500 participants are expected.
Demonstrations Planned in Sternschanze
Also starting at 1 p.m. in Sternschanze, the “Freedom for A. Öcalan!” demonstration is expected to draw between 200 and 500 participants. The route will follow Schanzenstrasse, Bundesstrasse, Edmund-Siemers-Allee, Mittelweg and Tesdorpfstrasse to the Turkish Consulate General (Tesdorpfstrasse 18).
From 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the “No to the Islamic Republic of Iran!” procession will take place, beginning at Mönckebergstraße 1, proceeding via Bergstraße and Jungfernstieg to Gänsemarkt. Organizers anticipate around 1,000 participants.
A rally is also planned at Alsterufer 45 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the theme “Antifascism remains necessary. Against the ‘Day of Honor’ in Budapest!” Approximately 80 participants are expected.
