It has been confirmed that the mother in her 20s, who dropped her 40-day-old son on the floor and left it for several days to die, denied intentionality.

The Women and Youth Investigation Unit of the Incheon Police Agency announced on the 29th that it had applied for an arrest warrant for A (24, female) on charges of child abuse and death under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.

Mr. A, a man with severe intellectual disability, is accused of dropping his 40-day-old son, B, on the floor in an apartment in Seo-gu, Incheon, in the middle of this month, injuring him and leaving him to die.

Mr. A stated to the police that “I was holding the child while holding it and accidentally dropped it” and “I thought it would be okay and did not take him to the hospital.”

It is known that Mr. A could not specifically specify the date and time that Group B was injured.

Mr. A’s husband insisted, “The child’s health was not good a few days ago, but I thought it was a common cold.”

He was working on delivery on the 26th, and after receiving a call from Mr. A, he returned home and confirmed that Group B was not breathing and reported it to 119. Group B was taken to the hospital, but eventually died.

The National Institute of Scientific Investigation conducted an autopsy on the body of group B and delivered the first oral findings to the police, saying, “It is estimated that he died of a fracture of the skull above the right ear and a slight cerebral hemorrhage.”

However, no signs of trauma such as bruises were found on the bodies of group B, other than skull fractures. There is also a 3-year-old girl who is the older sister of group B as a child of Mr. A, but it was found that there was no additional abuse situation.

The police applied the charges of child abuse and fatality, judging that Group B had signs of abnormal health before his death, but that his mother had neglected it and caused her death.
