A man was attacked by a crocodile after he answered the door of his house and the crocodile knocked on him. The alligator bit the man’s upper thigh, Florida Department of Wildlife and Wildlife Service officials said
A man from Daytona Beach in Florida USA was bitten by an alligator last Saturday and said the incident happened after he heard a noise at his front door and opened it, where he found an unexpected guest. Scott Hollingsworth told local media that he was watching TV with his wife at their home on Champions Drive when he heard A knock on the door.
“I jumped up and went ahead and opened the door, went outside and barely got out of the door and her leg started shaking violently,” he said. Hollingsworth said it was dark outside, so his first thought was that it could have been a large dog that attacked him.
“It happened so fast, there wasn’t much time. It was just a complete surprise and shock,” he said. “We see alligators behind our house, it’s a regular thing, but they always keep a distance from us.” Hollingsworth was bitten on the upper thigh and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. “I suspect I surprised the alligator as much as it surprised me,” Hollingsworth said.
An alligator trapper called by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Service found the alligator and euthanized it. Hollingsworth is expected to make a full recovery, but from now on will probably check before he answers the door of his house when he hears a knock.
